Watercolor 16

Here is today's painting. It was a crazy busy day but I still managed to fit it in. I think if had more time I would have pushed the values a little more to give it more contrast. There is also some other stuff that bugs me but I am not going to tell you about it. Instead I'll tell you I really think the mountains in the back ground worked out well with the atmospheric perspective and all.

Jonathan Strange, watercolor 15

This is a quick sketch I did of Johnathan Strange. He is a character in a book I just finished called Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, by Susanna Clarke. It is a crazy long book about two wizards, and Its is awesome. I really didn't think I would like it as much as I do but if I could have read it in one night I would have. Anyway if ya'll get a chance read it. It's great fun.
I wouldn't really say this is exactly how Mr. Strange looked in my head but for a fast drawing and painting it's not too bad.
Bye.

Watercolor 14

Here is the watercolor for today. Now you may be wondering where yesterday's watercolor is. Well it is in a basket over there (you will just have to imaging my pointing finger) on my desk, and it is really ugly so you don't get to see it. I like today's though. It's just a copy of a photograph but it was still fun to paint.

Flowers Again, Watercolor 10ish

Here is todays watercolor. My friend Guy suggested yesterday that I try mixing it up a little and combining some of my media. So I put a little colored pencil on top of my painting. It was pretty fun but I think the painting looked better before I add the colored pencil. I think I'll have to try some other media ideas and see how that goes.

Day 8-9, Writer's and Illustrators Conf

Hello All! I didn't forget about my watercolors. But I didn't do them either. I was at a conference for writer's and illustrators. I learned tons. Met some of my blogging friends, and had a great time.
Since I didn't do any watercolors for you I am posting some of my sketches from the conference. Most of my sketchbook from the conference is full of notes, but here is a collage of some of the doodles I did over the last couple of days.

They also had some model drawing sessions. I made it to one of them here is my sketch from that. It was a lot of fun doing a costumed model, I haven't done that since college.

I took a lot of great notes, and I am going to be posting a lot of what I learned on CBBFI. So check that out soon! We will also be posting some interviews from some of the presenters in the next couple of weeks so stay tuned for that as well.

The Backyard, watercolor 3

Yup, it's the backyard. This painting took too long. I think I worked on it for about 40 minutes. Tomorrow I'll have to do better.

Now on another note. I hope you all know what day it is today. It is PI day. March 14th is PI day because it is 3/14 or 3.14. At my house we celebrate PI day by eating lots of pie with as many people as we can get to come eat it with us. We have done this for the last couple of years and since we all love pie we will probably do it for years to come. What a great tradition! It's like thanksgiving but with only the dessert.

I am really glad we don't celebrate PI day by doing complicated geometry and problems involving circles.

Happy PI day everyone!

Guitar, watercolor 2

Here is today's watercolor. It took about a half hour. It was harder than yesterdays. Maybe because it was more geometric and so I had to think about crazy stuff like perspective and such. Any way, there you go.

My Brother Milon, watercolor 1

Hi all, last night I was at my illustration critique group and we were talking about people that do a painting a day. It sounded like fun so I committed out loud to do it. So here is the deal. I am going to do a watercolor a day (except Sunday) from now until my next critique group which is on May 14th. There we go, now I am double committed. Second to you guys out in cyberspace, and first to my critique group.

Alright then here is my first painting. It is a picture of my brother Milon. He is in junior hight but he does online school every other day. So he was home and sitting by a window, and I painted him. It took 12 minutes.

Leap

This idea came to me on Saturday. See is was almost warm (but not really) all the snow had melted and me and some of my younger siblings and I spent a little time in the backyard jumping on the trampoline. It was a good time but short lived. It snowed on Saturday night. That's okay though, I like the snow and spring is right around the corner.
