Back to the Blogging world

For all of you who are completely sick of looking at that rat in the last post, (I know I am) here is a picture with plenty more where that came from. It's based on the poem "The Pied Piper of Hamelin" by Robert Browning.

I have been working on it all month and finally with other deadlines out of the way I have it done.

  1. Oh beautiful.

I just randomly found your profile when I clicked on one of my own 'favorite books' by Chaim Potok.

I love your art. I am a teacher, sometimes a little bit of an I'm drawn to great children's literature and art anyways..but I now have two little children (one that is starting to LOVE books) I've started loving children's books again even more.

If I remember...I'll check back here for more.

  2. It wasn't that I was sick of the rat, but I was going through withdrawl. I'm addicted to your stuff. Glad you're back.

  3. I love it, Manelle! It turned out so great! Nice cool and warm colors. Great diagonals! Fabulous stylization as usual. You're the coolest. I hope you win the contest! :)

  4. I really like your style. Very nice work.

  5. Manelle. You are inspiring. Will you adopt me?

I've actually been to this town. They have rats painted on the streets. In many of the bread shops you can buy little rolls in the shape of rats. They have actually done demographic studies to prove that there was great exodus of children that settled in neighboring towns. Well that's what our tour guide said.

    Keep up the great work.

  7. Great piece, i love the angle and all the detail!

  8. This is a fabulous piece!!! I love how you brought the mice out of the border... and the line work and colors are great!

  9. Hey Jared, thanks for your comment, I looked up pictures of Hamlin and saw some of the rats. It looks like a way fun place to visit.

Eric and Anthony, I am so glad you like this piece. I entered it in an art contest so wanted it to be awesome, but of course I never really felt like it was so it is great to here comments like yours.

  10. Good luck Manelle! Tell us when you win! I love the new profile picture, is that a self portrait?

  11. No, it doesn't look like me really, It is part of an illustration I did a bit ago and I just liked it.
